A fast oil study trying to capture a mood in oils. Black smooth board for the surface allowed me to get a soft look in oils but mainly let’s the paint soak in and dry where I can add color layers down right away. Canvas tends to let the oil sit on top for a much brighter glazed look. I was trying to capture a chalky skin or marble texture to Christ’s skin.
